What this is
Lev has an MCP server: a standard way for AI agents to connect to the tools you use. Connect your agent (Claude Code, Codex, the Claude desktop app or ChatGPT) and it can read your Lev project and, with your OK, make changes to it.
You sign in with your Lev account, so there are no keys to paste. One connection covers all your projects.
Server URL
Every app below connects to this address.

What your agent can read
- Your projects
- A project overview
- Your documents, as text
- Your Today task list
- Your Investor Tracker
- Lev's method: what each step of building your company expects
Research Lev builds from data, such as your Fundraising Path and Investor List, can't be read as text.
What your agent can change
Most apps ask you before your agent makes a change, and every change is labelled in Lev.
- Rewrite a document. It is saved as a new version, so you can restore the old one any time.
- Add a task.
- Complete, skip or reopen a task.
- Move a task to another day this week, or to No date.
- Rename a task or change its description.
- Comment on a document, pinned to the phrase the comment is about.
- Move an investor to another stage on your Investor Tracker.
Lev saves a change as soon as your agent makes it. Whether you are asked first depends on your app's own approval settings.
Every change is labelled in Lev with the agent that made it, such as "Your Claude agent" or "Your OpenAI agent", so you can always see what it did.
Only the project owner's agent can edit documents, change a task's text or status, and move investors. A collaborator's agent can read the project, comment, and add or reschedule tasks when the owner allows it.
Try asking
- “Read my Customer Problem document and suggest three sharper interview questions.”
- “Add a Lev task to call three customers about pricing, and put it on Friday.”
- “Mark my interview-script task complete with a note.”
- “Who is on my investor tracker, and what stage are they at?”
Troubleshooting
Why doesn't my agent see Lev's new tools?
Your agent only sees new tools after it reconnects. In Claude Code, type /mcp, pick lev and choose Reconnect. In other apps, disconnect Lev in Settings → Connectors and connect it again.
What does "needs authentication" mean?
Your sign-in to Lev has expired. In Claude Code, type /mcp, pick lev and choose Authenticate. In other apps, choose Connect on the Lev connector. Then sign in to Lev again.
Codex says sign-in isn't supported. What do I do?
Update Codex to the latest version with npm install -g @openai/codex, then run codex mcp login lev again.
Why can't my agent edit a document?
Lev makes some documents itself, like the Summary and your research, and an agent can't edit those. And if you are a collaborator on the project rather than its owner, your agent can't edit its documents.
Why can't my agent find my project?
Ask it to list your Lev projects first, then name the one you mean.
